Duties and Responsibilities of the Committee Chairperson: A Checklist The person who chairs a committees need to know what is expected before he/she signs on. Most people who organize committees—volunteer or paid staff—are good about telling the details of the work. There are notebooks filled with details of how to manage a project or event. There is more to being than knowing the dates when things need to be done. Directions: Listed below are statements that reflect the characteristics and behavior of those who successfully chair committees. Read each statement and check those you believe you currently do. Those left unchecked are areas for additional learning and/or practice.
